Pep Band 2014: Energizing and radio-friendly music

Viking Pep Band is a great opportunity for individuals to show musical strengths together and use them to lift spirits at basketball games and pep assemblies. They strive to play current pop music for all attendees of Niles North games to enjoy.

“Although most people see pep band as live entertainment to fill in the awkward silence of a time out, I see pep band as a chance for NNHS students to provide extra energy and spirit to the room. We are there to make sure the crowd stays energized, and that the team feels support through our music,” Cheryl Filipek, director of the Viking Pep Band, says.

Last year, the band traveled to Illinois State University in Normal, IL and performed as the official pep band of the Girls State Semi-Finals Basketball Tournament during several games in their March Madness tournament. They were recently invited to perform at the Northwestern vs. University of Wisconsin-Madison Mens Basketball Game at Welsh Arena on January 2, 2014.

Viking pep band meets on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm and is directed by Filipek. To join, see Filipek in Room 1615 or email [email protected].
