Dance Marathon announces 4th annual 5k run

This year, Dance Marathon (DM) will be hosting their 4th annual 5k race on Sunday, Oct. 11. The 5k will take place at Harms Woods in Morton Grove, which is located on the corner of Golf and Harms Road. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race will officially kick off at 9 a.m.

DM successfully raises thousands of dollars and attracts over 100 participants to this 5k event every year- and the numbers just keep growing and growing. Hundreds of attendees from the Skokie and Morton Grove community, including Niles West and Niles North students, come together to help raise funds for the School Chest beneficiary.

The main beneficiary for DM this year is the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, a charity that strives to end homelessness through campaigns, community outreach, and public policy initiatives. All proceeds will go towards the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless.

DM morale captain Nina Rickett-Green said, “The 5k race is such a great way for the school and community to contribute for a great cause. This event is special because it’s a family event (including dogs), and it’s in collaboration with the Girls/Boys XC teams, who are huge DM supporters.”

The cost is $20 per individual runner and $15 per runner if running as a team. If you register on the day of the event, it is $25 per individual runner and $20 per runner if running as a team. Dogs are also welcome, but will be an extra $5 charge. Food, drinks, and a t-shirt will be included with fees.

Come support Dance Marathon’s annual 5k run at Harms Woods and register online here.
