The moment many students have been waiting for came on March 22, when Niles North and District 219 administrators came together to literally “break ground” on the south end of the school. This ceremonial act marked the official beginning of construction of North’s new aquatics center.
The ceremony began with school administrators who participated in the aquatics center planning process. Speaker-shovelers included North principal Dr. Ryan McTague and athletic director Karl Costello. Both spoke of the opportunities that will be available for the student population and the District 219 community when the center and new pool open in 2013.
