Former teacher, coach pleads guilty

Former+teacher%2C+coach+pleads+guilty

Former Niles North math teacher and cheer leading coach Jeff Tackes plead guilty to a misdemeanor sex charge on Aug. 23.

Tackes was arrested  in February for allegedly coercing two female Niles North students to play a game of strip poker during which, the students claim, Tackes exposed himself to them. Tackes also supposedly sent inappropriate, sexual text messages to the girls following the game.

Following his arrest, Tackes resigned as a math teacher and has been free on bond. According to the DuPage County prosecutors, Tackes was sentenced today to probation and 250 hours of community service. In addition, as part of his plea bargain, Tackes is not allowed on the grounds of any school and must register as a sex offender for the next 10 years.
