Silence for support: GSA

Silence+for+support%3A+GSA

Sponsored by the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) at Niles North High School, Day of Silence will be held on Friday, April 11th, to bring awareness to the LGBTQA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, asexual) community and raise awareness about bullying in the community.

Day of Silence gives people the opportunity to take a pledge to stay silent the whole day and wear red in support of the LGBTQA community. During the Day of Silence GSA will be giving out stickers to all who take the pledge. Even if someone is not able to stay silent, they can still wear red in support.

Here are some Do’s and Don’t’s that GSA has come up with regarding Day of Silence:

  • Do’s:
Talk in classroom if needed for class
    Show support by wearing RED
    Silence negativity
  • Don’t’s:
    Talk in hallway
    Talk in cafeteria
Tolerate people using offensive and inappropriate behavior that hurts our school community
