Dance Marathon (DM) will be having its silent auction, “tBay“, during lunch periods during the week of April 8 through April 12.
In this annual auction, patrons bid on items that were donated by Niles North’s teachers and staff. Some of the items available to bid on in tBay 2013 include: a kayaking session with Ms. Ingraham; extra tickets to graduation (donated by Mr. Robinson); free detention hours from the deans’ office; a yoga session with Ms. Benjamin, Ms. Ellis and Mr. Olsen and items relating to prom like a gift certificate for a prom hairdo from Ms. Sacks and an entire prom package from Dr. McTague.
“[tBay] is a way for teachers to showcase their interests other than teaching,” junior Sally Alvarado said.
This year, students can also show off their talents and interests by donating to tBay. “Getting students involved in tBay gives this event a different dynamic,” senior Yassaman Yarmahmoudi, a member of DM’s Special Events committee, said. “Niles West has included students in their tBay before so we thought, why not?”
“I believe that involving the students in tBay is a great way of expressing our ‘We Are One’ motto,” senior Cindy Hou, also a DM Special Events committee member, said. “Students will feel more inclined to participate in a fundraiser that they can personally contribute to.”
Auroris will be offering dance lessons, senior Lindsay Pietz will create a custom pair of shoes for the lucky winner and Poetry Club will create some original poetry to help someone ask their date to prom.
tBay will be set up at a table outside the East Cafeteria during lunch periods during the week of April 8 through April 12. The auction closes at 4 p.m. on Friday in the front lobby. Stop by and place a bid on one of these unique and fabulous prizes!
