Mother’s Day is a holiday meant to honor and celebrate moms for all their hard work and dedication to their families.  Here are a few ways to show your mother how much she really means to you.

Start the morning off with breakfast in bed.  It does not have to be anything too fancy – just a bowl of cereal and a glass of orange juice brought to your mom will show how much you care.  Cleaning up the breakfast dishes is also an added bonus.  When you bring her breakfast, bring a Mother’s Day card with as well to start the day off on a sweet note. You can purchase festive Mother’s Day cards as stores such as Walgreens, CVS, and Papyrus.  Continue to make sure your mom has a phenomenal and relaxing day by helping out in every way, whether that be helping your siblings with homework or tidying up the house.

If you are not sure what to give your mom for Mother’s Day, here are a few ideas:  Remember, something simple can go a long way.

Flowers – Buying flowers is a sweet gesture to show your mother that you are thinking about her. The lively colors and pleasant smells will certainly put a smile on her face.

Photo gifts – Print a cherished family photo and place it in a nice frame for your mom to keep on a nightstand or desk.  If you have trouble choosing just one picture, make a collage of your favorites.  You can make collages online or in convenience stores like Walgreens, which is just around the corner.

Jewelry and accessories – Buy your mom a necklace, watch, purse or other accessories you think she might enjoy.  Though they may be a little more expensive, they really show how much you love your mother.  Stores like Carson’s and Macy’s often have nice accessories at affordable costs.  If you’re still worried about price, look around and see which stores are having Mother’s Day sales.

Beauty treatments – Pamper your mom with a gift card to get a massage or a manicure.  A gift card shows that you realize she needs a break, but also allows her to go when she has time. Places like 675 Nails, Teddy Rose, and Mario Tricoci are all great options.

A day without cell phones – If you still want to give your mother a great gift, but don’t quite have the budget, spend some quality time with her.  Teenagers and adults today are so engrossed in their cell phones, they often don’t really bond when together.  Spend some time with your family, remembering what it was like before everyone had cell phones.  Without being glued to technology, the ways to spend the day are endless.  Take a bike ride, visit the Botanic Gardens, have a picnic in the park- anything to just enjoy each other’s company.

Remember, the only thing that really matters is that your mom feels loved and appreciated.
