Korean culture was chosen to be communally showcased in this year’s Coming Together in Skokie. There will be smaller reflection of that communal showcase in the Niles North IRC on Wednesday, Feb. 12, periods one through nine.
The event will start with a twenty minutes, formal showcase on Korean culture which will then digress into some more casual activities. These casual events will include introductions to books that embody pieces of Korean culture as well as some instructive K-Pop (Korean Pop music) dancing which has taken over the world.
“The point of this is to spread some cultural influence. Niles North is a very diverse school in itself; it’s clear that we take pride in giving all of our students the option to explore and understand different cultural perspectives. What we’re doing in the IRC is a shadow of what is going on at the Coming Together in Skokie & Niles Township so we’re also hoping to persuade some more students into going to visit that,” Librarian Beverly Zbinden said.
Students are welcome to watch and explore the showcase during their study hall and/or lunch periods. Make sure to stop by!
