On Friday, Nov. 15, Niles North Vocal Jazz kicks off the fall season with their first school performance of the year hosted by choral director Daniel Gregerman. Vocal Jazz includes four sub-groups: Jazz Band, Harmonics, Sound Check and Take One.
Take One, the most selective of the sub-groups, will be singing “Like Someone in Love,” “Dance to the Music,” “September Song,” “Smack Dab in the Middle,” “Zip a Dee Doo Dah” and the popular “Route 66”.
“We usually try to do a variety of songs, so we’re doing a couple of classics as well as crowd pleasers for this concert,” Take One member Julia Thummel said.
Some of these songs will also be featured in Take One’s upcoming performance in Puerto Vallarta set for Feb. 13.”It’s really exciting, especially since we’ll be going when everyone’s sick of Winter,” Thummel said.
Unfortunately, we can’t all make it to Puerto Vallarta, but we can make it to tomorrow’s concert. “It’s a great lineup of songs. I’m very excited for the public to see what we’ve been doing so far,” Take One member Noah Zeidman said.
Stop by the auditorium for the free performance. Doors open at 7 p.m.
