Boys swimming ends season with state success

Friday, Feb. 22, Niles North sent 6 varisty swimmers to IHSA State to compete with the top high school swimmers in the state. These elite athletes include seniors Karol Mylnarski, Earl Kim, Chris Riordan, Max Wall, Javed Avdic and Aaron Brown.

Overall, the swimmers received 15th place with an overall score of 28 points. There were 45 Illinois schools in attendance.

Mylnarski, Kim, Brown and Avdic competed in both the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay. The 200 free relay team advanced to State Finals the following day on Feb. 24. The Vikings received 10th overall with a time of 1:26.62.

Mylnarski also competed in the 50 and 100 freestyle races, qualifying for State Finals in each of these events. Mylnarski finished in 5th place in the 100 free with a time of 45.89 and 3rd in the 50 free with a time of 20.81 seconds.

Congratulations to the boys varsity swim team for their achievements at State as well as throughout the season.
