Whether you like writing, reading or simply listening to a good story, March will get you off to a promising start. From Mar. 5-8, Niles North will host its second annual Writers’ Week, a week that celebrates the power and beauty that writing entails and provides.
This year’s writers and guest presenters include the singer songwriter Dave Tamkin, poet Malcolm London, author Kurt Haberl (father of North English teacher James Haberl and filmaker David Bradburn (brother of Tony Bradburn, director of English). Teachers and creative writing students will also perform their works.
These presentations will take place in the Codell Commons, and classes and drop-ins are welcome.
According to English teacher Jean Ordoñez, head coordinator of this exciting event, “Writers’ Week is meant for everyone regardless of whether or not the humanities is their thing. These writers, many who pursue their passion for writing as a side job, come here to inspire students. If that means changing only one’s perspective on the power of words, then their efforts are worth it”.
Here is the tentative schedule:

This is so awesome! Events like these make me so happy that I attend Niles North! I’ll definitely be stopping by to catch Dave Tamkin, J.W. Basilo, and Nancy Grossman!
