On Tuesday, Jan. 20th, Niles North launched its boys’ indoor track and field season. And like previous years, our athletes are locked in and ready to compete.
Last season, the boys track and field team placed 3rd overall in the Central Suburban League North for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. And though the goal for the season is to come first in conference, many individual athletes have personal goals to achieve. Senior Nana Ossei says, “I’m looking forward to getting a new PR in the 300-meter hurdles. And I also want to use this season as a way to get in better shape physically.”
Though these track meets are meant to be competitive, they can also be very fun. Ossei says, “Some of the meets are actually pretty fun. And just meeting new people from different schools every time makes the experience more enjoyable.”
Some athletes have goals of repeating achievements from last year. Senior athlete Michael Oduensi shared that “I have two goals for the season. I plan on becoming all-conference again. I also believe that I could make it all the way to state competitions.”
The boys’ track and field team, which is led by Coach Joshua Williams, is looking very optimistic, excited, and ready to give their all in these upcoming competitions. Their first indoor meet is this Saturday at Auburn High School.
