What’s your name and grade? Abeer Shah, and I’m a senior.

Do you have any hobbies? If there’s an opportunity to do something, I’ll take it. I like to try new things, but as of now, I like to play instruments like guitar and work on computers.

Do you believe in superstitions? I kind of believe in karma. I feel like there are times when I’ve got what I deserved, good or bad, and there were times when things weren’t good or bad enough for what I thought I deserved. I’ve felt that way about other people, as well.

What’s the first thing you notice about a person? Their ego, how much attention they can give someone, and how open-minded they are. Physically, I think I tend to notice their eyes.

What do you do to cheer yourself up? I talk to other people, but not about whatever’s on my mind. I don’t usually try to feel better about whatever is bringing me down, I just accept it and find something to distract me.

What’s one of your biggest regrets and why? Helping people out more times than I should have. There were a lot of times when I’d give people advice, but the act wasn’t reciprocated.

What’s something from your childhood that’s stuck with you? Learning how to ignore things. When I was younger, my parents would always try to lecture me without understanding what I was thinking, so I just found it easier to listen and move on.

How do you want to see yourself in 5 years? I want to be able to live comfortably, start a family, and have a pit bull. Hopefully, I’ll have matured and be surrounded by people I enjoy being around. I also want to have a job as a software engineer.

What’s something that helped you get through high school? My boy, Gio. I met him in 6th grade and I moved away in 7th grade, but when I came back freshman year he was the first person I connected with and it was an instant connection. He was the only person that I’ve ever been able to talk to about my problems, and he never switched up and stayed true to others.

Where is your favorite place to go/your happy place? I like spending time with people because being social helps distract me from whatever is going on, so being around people I can make jokes and distract myself with can help with stress. I also really enjoy scenic views.
