Attention all fellow Niles North students who are passionate about expressing their creativity and artistic masterpieces- the Niles North Poetry Club is showcasing a unique opportunity for students to showcase their talents for this year’s Poetry Slam. The open-mic Poetry Slam will take place Monday, May 16th after school in the student commons free of charge.
Whether you’re a pro or a beginner, all are welcome to join and ‘de-stress’ from this long school year. Not only are poets allowed to join, but all musicians that are interested in participating are also welcome to share their talents, whether it’s a new rap, or alternative/pop musical piece.
“I think Niles North hosting a poetry slam is so important because it gives a chance for students who want to express themselves through written word to show their talent and passion to a judge-free audience,” Mikaela Lingat, senior, said.
Niles North’s Poetry Club will also welcome a special guest, TJ Medel, also known for his most memorable, out-spoken poetry slam performances throughout the Chicago area.
