Last night Stephen Curry and Golden State Warriors went up against Tim Duncan and the reliable San Antonio Spurs. The final score was in favor of the Warriors 112-101.
The Warriors right now are making history by starting off the season with a 24-0 and Curry leading the league with the most 3-point made field goals, and with a record of 70-9. But they weren’t the first team to do this. The 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls hold an amazing record of 72-10, an achievement that Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman deserved due to their hard work on and off the court.
“I don’t want the Warriors to break the Chicago Bulls record, especially since it’s our team. I’ll be okay if they end up in a stalemate,” senior, Kenny Puleikis said.
The Warriors just three games away from breaking the best season in the NBA (National Basketball League). The Warriors play the Memphis Grizzlies twice and the Spurs once more before the regular season ends.
The Grizzlies are not a problem. After losing their starting point guard, Mike Conley, and center, Marc Gasol, the Grizzlies were frantically searching around for free agents to pick up to replace their fallen players.
This won’t be a problem for the Warriors because of the overall strength of their team. They have the chemistry needed to win against a team who had to replace two of their starting players. The only problem will be the Spurs.
The Spurs are a team to be reckoned with. Because this team is generally older than a lot of other NBA teams right now they focus on ball movement, hard screens, and cuts.
“I’ve spent more time thinking about Golden State than I have any other team I’ve ever thought about in my whole career… When I see them shoot uncontested shots more than anybody else in the league, it’s inspiring. It’s just great basketball,” head coach, Gregg Popovich said.
Even Popovich knows how great the Warriors are and the possibility of him resting all his players are highly unlikely. The Warriors deserve the very best lineup the Spurs can give, a final challenge during the regular season to a young Warriors team making history.
