Attention seniors: If you have not already submitted your senior moment, as well as your senior superlatives votes, now is the time to do so because the deadline is fast approaching.
The senior moment is an essential component of the senior issue of North Star News. It should describe your favorite moment of the past four years. Your senior moment can also be your senior will if you choose.
“The senior moment is a way for seniors to jot down their favorite moments they experienced in high school,” North Star News Editor-in-Chief, Tahir Razzaq said. “The senior issue is kind of like a treasure; when they look at it, they remember all these unforgettable memories they made made and encountered in high school. It’s a voice for the seniors.”
Your senior moment should follow the guidelines administered in the survey’s directions. An example of a well written senior moment would be:
“It’s so weird thinking I’m leaving! I’ll never forget the hours I spent banging my head against a wall for taking APUSH or BC Calc. Or all the times I stood outside Dunkin Donuts in freezing cold weather, asking for change to go towards Dance Marathon. I won’t forget all the sleep I lost due to early bird StudGov and Class Board or the free time I traded in to tutor in the Point. I won’t forget my nerve-wracking first experience with LTAB through Outspoken or all the Aleve I took to subdue the pain of conditioning season. There’s a laundry list of sacrifices that go with each activity, but the point is that I really gave this school my all and it was well worth it. For all underclassmen reading these, please realize that you’ll be graduating one day too, and you’ll want to have experiences and memories that truly mean something.” – Madi Gardner, class of 2015.
An example of a poorly written senior moment is:
“Chillin with my peeps,” or “Sports,” – both anonymous, class of 2016.
The senior moment deadline is Friday, March 25. You can find the senior issue survey here. If you have any unanswered questions regarding senior moments, please contact Samantha McNelis at [email protected].
