The Niles North Theatre Department presents audiences with this month’s production of “Grass Harp”- Truman Capote’s heart-warming tale about a southern family, consisting of an orphan boy and his two aunts, and their adventures in a discovered tree house in the woods. The small tale focuses on important thematic elements of familial relationships and love.
Esho Rasho, sophomore, has gotten the privilege to work with the production staff and stage crew for “Grass Harp” and expresses his enthusiasm for the play.
“I highly recommend that audiences come watch and support ‘Grass Harp’ because the play expresses such a beautiful message about family and relationships that will definitely capture the hearts of audiences,” Rasho said.
The cast of “Grass Harp” includes: Uche Nwansi as Catherine Creek, Jacob Rosenberg as Collin Talbo, Anajé Silva, Callie Folke as Verena Talbo, Tommy Montgomery as Dr. Morris Ritz, Bryanna Plaisir as The Reverend’s Wife, Andrew Teague as The Reverend, Brandon Davis as The Barber, Yourtana Sulaiman as The Baker’s Wife, Stephen Deck as The Postmaster, Joseph Nagler as The Sheriff, Spencer Soglin as Judge Charlie Cool, Kylie Smith and Maryarita Kobotis as The Choir Mistresses, Tom Ecker as Big Eddie Stover, Alphonso Riddick as Brophy, Oren Efergan as Sam, Rachel Kaufman as Maude Riordan, Hannah Doherty as Miss Babylove Dallas, and Jessica Hansen as Edna & Amory.
“Being a part of the play has become such an incredible and exciting experience. “Grass Harp” deals a lot with familial relations, specifically between siblings, so it’s relatable in that way. It’s also a really charming story about love and the strength it carries,” Callie Folke, cast, said.
“Grass Harp” will run November 19 through 21 in the Drama Performance Center. Performances will be held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on November 20 and 21.
