This week, the Niles North Israeli Club will be hosting two special guest speakers to speak about their experiences in the Holocaust in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day. Currently, the 1100 is lined with posters depicting some of the atrocities and realities of the Holocaust in efforts to help remember the tragedies that occurred.
In the United States, there is an eight day period known as “Days of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust” which focus on remembering and learning from the terrible events of the Holocaust. These eight days generally begin the Sunday before “Yom HaShoah” (the Jewish Holocaust Remembrance Day) and end the following Sunday. This year, the “Days of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust” stem from April 12- 19, with “Yom HaShoah” taking place on April 16.
Magda Brown will be coming to share her story with the Niles North community on April 14, during 7th period in the auditorium. Students and teachers are encouraged to attend this event to hear Magda Brown’s unbelievable story of survival during the Holocaust.
On April 16, Bill Sand will speak about his experience in the Holocaust during 4th period, in the Student Activities room. Everyone is welcome to come and listen to him share his story.
