The annual Relay For Life event will be held next Friday, June 6 on the Niles West football field from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7. So far, the 62 teams and 403 participants of Relay For Life of Skokie, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove and Niles (SLMGN) have raised approximately $28,120 towards fighting cancer and honoring cancer survivors.
The American Cancer Society helps save over 400 lives a day, and the Relayers here won’t stop until they finish the fight. “I relay for more smiles,” math teacher Tina Nocella said. “I relay for more birthdays,” sophomore Sophie Steger said. The night of, Relayers will be able to dedicate a Luminaria to help light the track.
Before June 6, though, the Relay For Life committee here at Niles North will be hosting their first annual outdoor movie night. On Friday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the IRC courtyard, the club will be showing the movie “Frozen”. Admission is $1 if you’ve already signed up for Relay and $2 if you haven’t. Relay For Life sponsor Gary Chu recommends that you bring friends, family, snacks and blankets.
Until there’s a cure, Relay For Life hopes to see you all there!
