Every year, Niles North recognizes outstanding students in certain subjects. These departmental awards are chosen by the teachers in each department and awarded at the annual awards assembly leading up to graduation. Senior Samuel Eisenberg, winner of the 2014 departmental award for outstanding student in business, portrayed his talent, dedication and passion for the business field long before he reached high school. It’s been a long time coming for this departmental award.
“Ever since I was a little kid I was drawn to money,” senior Samuel Eisenberg said. Winner of the 2014 departmental award for outstanding student in business, Eisenberg claims, “it only made sense to enroll in business classes and get involved in DECA.” Eisenberg has proven to be a high achieving business student, taking third at State as a sophomore with his DECA group, placing for Nationals last year in Salt Lake City, and placing sixth at State this year.
“I’ve worked really hard both in and out of the classroom to prove my dedication to this department. I’m very proud of the work I’ve done with my DECA team as well as the work I’ve done for my business teachers over the years, who have taught me so much about the field,” Eisenberg said.
This upcoming fall, Eisenberg will take his passion for business to the next level at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne. A business major, Eisenberg plans to continue his learning and gain more experience in the business field in hopes of entering in a business career later in life.
“Niles North has absolutely prepared me for a future in business. I’m so excited to see where life will take me,” Eisenberg said.
To all those who hope to show the same dedication and talent in the business department, “Be active in DECA and take as many business classes as you can,” Eisenburg said. “Show your teachers you’re as passionate about the subject as they are.”
