Niles North’s very own student Hanna Bowes won the Ravinia Poster contest using her poster developed in Graphic Design class.
Ravinia is the oldest outdoor music festival in the country. It holds many summer concerts from June-September located in our very own Chicago. Every year Ravinia hosts a poster contest design.
“When Ms. Amy Zwikel told me that I got 1st place in the Ravinia poster contest I was in shock and disbelief. We even called just to double check that it was true,” senior Hanna Bowes said.
Hanna’s work was inspired by the 60s; prints from that era evoked her artistic skills. She looked at 60s concert posters and realized how the colorful images stood out to many people. She wanted to put color on her side and let it speak for itself. By doing all this, it made her feel that her work was different from everyone else’s.
Aside from having her work being the Summer 2014 Ravinia poster, she also won $1,000. When asked about what she would do with this money, Bowes said, ” I’ve been thinking a lot about the different things I need to get, but I came to the conclusion that this money will be used for the beginning of my foundation for art therapy and Art for children who have been deprived of it’s infinite beauty.”
We all look forward to what you have in store for us, Hanna Bowes!
Congratulations!
