What is your name and department? Jennifer Cross, English.
Do you have any hobbies? Keeping up with my own kids’ activities and sports and performances.
What made you want to teach English? As a child I couldn’t get enough books, as a kid I used to compete in battle of the books where you see who can read but also I always lived in a library it was one of my favorite places, growing up English was always a favorite subject of mine and I was incredibly involved in high school and teaching kids. I feel with English that it’s something I can constantly learn something from students because they bring ideas that are unique and things I have never thought of. I just enjoy that it’s ever changing.
What is your favorite book? “The hours” by Michael Cunningham, I find that I can come back every year or decade and have a different perspective each time.
What is your all time favorite movie? I really enjoy this one sweet one called Serendipity. It’s a good movie and kind of takes you back to the idea of fate like a really sweet movie, I would definitely recommend it.
If you could teach any subject what would it be? Probably psychology, I minored in it, and I studied it in college and took classes.
Favorite place on earth Two places, one Murrins, Switzerland, and Venice, Italy
Who is your favorite music artist? The Cure, and I love the song “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra, it’s my wedding song.
What is your favorite quote? Willa Cather “There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in storm.”
