Girls Gymnastics season has begun

The Girls gymnastics season has begun at Niles North, and the team is looking forward to their season.

Their season started off with a rocky start, as their first meet was against sports powerhouse New Trier. They lost the New Trier meet, but picked things up soon after with a win against Highland Park on Dec 6th.

“Gymnastics is a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends,” senior Martina Vandini said. “I love the adrenaline rush I feel before a meet, which is one of the main reasons I love to compete.”

The team recently performed a routine for the entire school at the Winter Pep Assembly, where they showcased their skills and performed many flips. They were met with cheers during the routine, and received a large round of applause as they finished it as the audience seemed very impressed.

The team meets for practice almost every day, where they condition and train in order to balance and execute their flips perfectly. Their next meet will be held at Maine East on January 11, and the team is hoping they will get some support to show up.
