Standing center stage, a wave of illuminating lights shine on your face as you take a deep breath and look into the crowd. A sea of faces looks back, waiting in anticipation. You exhale and take a mental snapshot of this moment. This is your moment. This is your passion. This is the Niles North Variety Show.
Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. is the annual V-Show where a select number of students take to the Niles North auditorium to showcase their incredible talents. On the audition days of Oct. 11 and Oct. 13, students present a prepared act that is judged and selected by the sponsors. The final competitors are then named based on the certain criteria needed to participate and the uniqueness of the skills displayed.
“Variety Show is a great outlet for Niles North students to share their talents with the rest of the school and community. Many of the students who audition tend to be in orchestra or choir, but now they get to perform individually or in a small group, which is nice to see and hear! We also love when students come in with talents that are not generally seen in any other school setting. In the past, we have had jugglers, contortionists, and even a comedian. We just love that Variety Show truly shows the variety of talent our students have,” Kara Graber, sponsor, said.
All students are encouraged to participate regardless of year! Traditionally, the first place winner of the show is given the opportunity to perform their act in front of the school at the Winter pep assembly.
Contact Kara Graber if you are still interested in auditioning and make sure to come out on Nov. 4 to support and celebrate the passions of your talented peers!
