For many years, Niles North has been proud to support many non-profit organizations. Each event held for these different organizations has been an ultimate success. This is year Niles North’s We Help Others club (W.H.O club) is proud to announce that this years charity event is Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. Dance Marathon held a homeroom meeting for all morale captains and participants this past week to announce the charity selection and collaboration with the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless (CCH).
Established in 1980, the CCH is a non-profit organization that advocates to end homelessness occurring in the metropolitan Chicago area and all across Illinois. CCH organizes campaigns and community outreach programs to create housing and improve services for the homeless.
Of the many exciting members of DM, Violette Shearer, DM exec, feels nothing but thrilled and inspired to support this charity.
“Homelessness has become an upsetting issue with the fact that these people don’t have the same luxuries and opportunities to live in a home like we have. DM feels a strong urge to help these people by raising enough awareness throughout our community and fundraising to end homelessness,” Shearer said.
DM has successfully raised awareness with various past charities, such as the Daniel M. Horyn Foundation last year. This year, DM plans to organize many exciting, memorable events leading up to the huge celebration at the end of the year. Since it’s a brand new year, DM encourages students to get involved and help support various organizations.
“DM provides support for so many impacting causes. As a member, I want to be able to raise awareness for our community and make a difference for our world as much as I can,” Eduardo Aleman said.
