The 90’s nostalgia is officially in the air. All those 20’s something adults across America can rejoice because their favorites will finally grace television once again. Although they might not include the stereotypical annoying neighbor, the one couple that seems to never break up, the ‘best’ looks straight off of the runway, and notorious theme song- the bang is back.
One of the first shows to announce their triumphant return ran from 1993-2000, entitled Boy Meets World. The famous tale centered around Cory Matthews- a teenager from Philadelphia, and his transformation from boyhood to adulthood with the help of his family and girlfriend since the age of four- Topanga Lawrence. In Nov. 2012, the creator of the show, Michael Jacobs, announced a sequel titled Girl Meets World.
This would center around Cory and Topanga’s teenage daughter, Riley Matthews and her navigation through life. GMW premiered Jun. 14 on Disney Channel
Netflix announced they would reboot everyone’s favorite science teacher, Miss Frizzle. Magic School Bus, based off of the popular book series of the same name, ran from 1994 to 1997. It told the story of Miss Frizzle,that took her students on marvelous, thrill-seeking adventures all to comprehend science. The educational series is set to stream twenty six new half hour episodes starting in 2016.
“I am so excited to see the Full house gang return because I grew up with Full House and it’s thrilling to see everyone come back on screen,” said senior Tahir Razzaq.
Other sitcoms set to grace television once again include: Full House, Power Puff Girls, Scream, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,and a ton of others. As Uncle Jesse would notoriously say, “Lord, have mercy”.
