With the leaves changing colors and the weather cooling down, fall is in full swing. Naturally, the only way to properly acknowledge the new season is by making cupcakes! Typically, cupcakes decorates with a fall theme to them relate to Halloween or Thanksgiving. Instead, these cupcakes have something so simple which also captures the essence of fall- acorns!
Ingredients:
Cupcakes
Frosting
Hershey Kisses
Butterscotch chips (Chocolate chips but butterscotch flavored)
Decorating tip (optional- can be purchased from craft stores such as Michael’s)
Directions:
1. Make cupcakes using any recipe you please.
2. Frost the cupcakes in whatever color or flavor that makes you happy. Set aside some frosting for the acorns.
Note: In order to get the texture seen in the photo below, use a decorating tip. While a decorating tip is not necessary, the thickness in the frosting will help the acorns stick.
3. Use food coloring to dye the frosting that was set aside brown.
4. Open a Hershey Kiss and cover the flat side with the brown icing.
5. Create the acorn by carefully place a butterscotch chip on top of the icing on the Hershey Kiss.
6. Place the acorn on the cupcake and press gently so it does not fall down.
7. After you finish decorating the cupcakes, place them in the refrigerator so the icing does not melt or droop.
Enjoy!
