Get ready, Niles North. This week is National Prevention week across America, and Niles North is gearing up for a celebration of teen safety and healthy choices. Every day this week encompasses a different issue that teens face.
“National Prevention Week is a time to come together and celebrate all the healthy choices made by our students each day,” said SAP coordinator and psychologist Anna Hamilton. Students can come to the lunchroom during lunch periods to sign an “I choose” pledge for prom and do fun activities and contests to win prizes.
Monday is mental health awareness day. Tuesday focuses on dating violence. Wednesday will be an expose on peer pressure. Finally, Thursday and Friday will explore the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The week will help advise students to make safe choices at prom this weekend!
