Dec. 4, 2013 marked the first time that the winter sports and fine arts pep band held an event together.
The night started off with everyone eating pizza, then once everyone settled down, the karaoke began.
Each winter sports team had the chance to show what they could do in front of a panel of judges for a chance to win a Buffalo Wild Wings dinner and also get the opportunity to perform at the winter assembly on Friday.
The teams started out by sending up a couple of people from their sport to give the crowd an idea of how the team was doing so far in their season, something they were working on or something that they were striving for, and also the time and place of their next game.
After introductions, the entire team was brought out and they picked a song for the pep band to play. They did a small dance routine, sang, and got themselves and the crowd pumped up by jumping, getting loud and getting the crowd involved in their cheers.
The girls basketball team was the last sport to try to impress the judges that night. They sent up some of their star players and continued to do their own rendition of Taylor Swift’s song “I Knew You Were Trouble” and absolutely rocked the room with every single player joining in. They did such an amazing job, earning themselves a 27 out of 30, which was 4 points higher than the boys gymnastics team, who had been dominating all night until the girls ran right past them.
The whole night was filled with great energy and passion for every sport. Look out this weekend for a ton of games being played from all the winter sports and make sure to be out there supporting our fellow Vikings.
