October’s athlete of the month, senior Taylor Louis, has been a commanding force on Niles North Girls Volleyball since making the varsity team her sophomore year.
Louis has been playing volleyball since she was a freshman. An abundance of talent and hard work propelled Louis to the top of her team in 2011, and the next year she found herself playing alongside dedicated upperclassmen.
As team captain, her main responsibilities include “trying to keep everybody’s spirits up and trying to keep [her] spirits up.”
Louis’ teammates also recognize the work she puts into the sport and her team. “She’s always working to surpass her personal goals and to push the team to a higher level,” senior Molly Hampton said. “Her talent and character set her apart from other athletes.”
Although her skills are above and beyond most of her peers, Louis views her abilities with a sense of humility. In terms of her club volleyball team, Louis is quick to say that she is in the middle of the pack.
Louis committed to Marquette in September of her Junior year. She is attending the school to continue playing vollyball. She hopes to study sports or artist management.
