The girls varsity volleyball team overtook another win against Maine East on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The girls are up to a record of 17-6 overall, and 3-1 in conference.
Their last game against Maine East was extremely close. However, the team managed to win the third game, ensuring the win. Taylor Louis, senior and captain, lead the team with 24 kills, and Alethea Busch contributed 10 kills.
“We always play better when the crowd, coaches and team are cheering and excited. It was a good win, especially since it went to three games. I hope we can keep up the same intensity for future games!” sophomore Nina Yonan said.
The team is hoping that their success will lead them to the school’s first conference win in volleyball. Their main competition is usually Glenbrook North High School (GBN), being the only team who has beaten them in their conference so far.
“I’m really looking forward to playing GBN again because when we lost against them we definitely did not play our best. We’ve come a long way since that loss and I’m excited to see them on the court next Tuesday,” junior Addy Leopoldo said.
Be on the lookout for the rest of the volleyball season – these girls will be putting up a fight!
“I’m looking forward to our team’s growing consistency. Once we get more consistent in a game situation, we’re going to be a very difficult team to beat,” Mike Cot, head varsity coach, said.
