Boys Varsity soccer remains undefeated in conference

The Varsity Boys soccer team continued their unbeaten streak with a 4-1 win against Jones on Saturday, Sept. 17.

One goal from Senior Tony Sticlaru and three goals from Junior Quinn Graham brought the Vikings to their 9th victory of the season, ending a three-game tie streak.

The Vikings tied 2-2 against conference opponent Maine West on Sept. 15, and also tied 0-0 with another conference opponent Vernon Hills on Sept. 13.

Despite their record, some players felt disappointed in their past performances.

“I think we played very well but their goalie had the game of his life,” starting striker and Senior Captain Tony Sticlaru said when asked about the Vernon Hills game. “Some games just go that way, like you know you should’ve won but you don’t. That’s just how soccer is sometimes. The final score didn’t reflect the game at all.”

When asked how he thought the season was going so far, Junior Dany Sticlaru, starting center back for the team, said “I think we’ve started off the season strong, not losing in thirteen games is an accomplishment that we should be proud of. We tied New Trier earlier too which was pretty cool. They’re a really strong team.”

The Vikings have allowed 8 goals in so far this season while scoring 47. They currently have 9 wins, 4 ties, and 0 losses.
