This year’s girls varsity volleyball team is looking good and plans to repeat last years success.
The team started the season off strong with a 2-0 record after their most recent game against Northside Prep. After dominating in the first set with 25-9, they overtook the match with 25-20 in the second set.
“We all really focused on our defense and where to place our hits. I think that really contributed to our win and its going to help us a lot in the future.” Junior Amanda Green says. “We also had a really fun time out there, which definitely helps us come together as a team and work together!”
The team is looking forward to upholding last year’s title of regional champs. They want to make their own history.
With only five returning varsity players, the team feared that they would have difficulty coming together as a team. However, their extremely hard work and determination has paid off so far.
“As individuals, we all play different roles that impact our team. I think our understanding of that is what separates us from other teams. We all have important contributions that keep us moving forward and winning.” Captain Taylor Louis says.
Come cheer them on at their next home game against Niles West on Wednesday, September 11th, in their efforts to win back the traveling trophy!
