Niles North’s award winning yearbook, SAGA, has entered a contest sponsored by Jostens Publishing company for the best high school yearbook commercial. Jostens is a major yearbook publisher. The last day to vote for a commercial is Mar. 28.
High schools and middle schools enter this contest by submitting a video commercial promoting their publication. SAGA submitted its 2012 commercial, which included many special effects and features of the yearbook, titled Exposed.
The SAGA staff has been promoting the video by sending Facebook messages and asking people to vote. On the first day they started promoting, their video recieved about 200 likes, which earned them the lead in the competition. “Even though we are in the lead, we want to stay on top of things just in case another school uploads a new video and gets a lot of votes,” junior Molly Hampton said.
The commercial with the highest number of votes will win a prize of a $1,000. If SAGA wins, the staff hopes to use that money to buy new SAGA-wear and pay for the yearbook distribution party in May. The rest of the money would go into yearbook’s funds to be able to print out more pages in future years.
If you would like to support SAGA, vote via Facebook for their commercial here. Note that the link only works on computers, not mobile devices. Plus, you can only vote once, so make your vote count for SAGA.
