In the world of hockey, names like Gretzky, Lemieux, and Crosby are synonymous with greatness. They’ve left an indelible mark on the sport, and now, a new name is making waves in the hockey world: 18 year-old Connor Bedard. Bedard is already being hailed as one of the most promising talents to emerge in recent years.

From the first 7 games of the season, Bedard has acquired 2 goals and 2 assists for the Chicago Blackhawks. The next game for the Blackhawks will be on Oct. 27 at T-Mobile Area face off Vegas Golden Knights.

Junior Rhys Sather, a hockey player himself, had some things to say about Connor Bedard. “Bedard is just something else. His age with his work on the sticks is unheard of. He is not only a goal scorer, but also a team player. He moves around the puck like something I’ve never seen before. He is definitely someone to keep your eye on in the next couple seasons.”

Hailing from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Bedard’s journey to stardom has been nothing short of remarkable. He burst onto the scene at an early age, demonstrating a natural aptitude for the game that few possess. His incredible skating ability, exceptional stickhandling, and laser-like accuracy in front of the net have fans and experts alike drawing comparisons to the legends of the sport.

Bedard’s remarkable rise to prominence began when he was granted “exceptional player” status by Hockey Canada, allowing him to play in the Western Hockey League (WHL) at the tender age of 15. He became the first player in WHL history to score over 25 goals in his first season as a 15-year-old rookie, a testament to his prodigious talent.

The 2020-21 season, despite the challenges of a global pandemic, was a defining year for Bedard. Playing for the Regina Pats, he led the league in scoring with a whopping 28 goals and 36 assists in just 15 games. His remarkable feats on the ice earned him the WHL Player of the Year award, making him the youngest player to ever receive the honor.

Bedard’s ascent doesn’t stop at the junior level; he has also represented his country with distinction. He played a pivotal role in helping Canada win the gold medal at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, showcasing his composure and skill on the international stage.

What sets Bedard apart, aside from his jaw-dropping stats, is his commitment to improvement and his ability to stay grounded. He’s known for his tireless work ethic and an insatiable appetite for learning. The hockey world is not only excited about what Bedard is today but also what he could become in the future.

As Bedard continues to develop and grow in the hockey world, one thing is clear: the future of the sport is in good hands. With a combination of talent, passion, and a humble demeanor, Connor Bedard is poised to leave his mark alongside the legends of the game. Hockey enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing the rise of a new superstar who has the potential to redefine the sport.
