What is your name and what grade are you in? My name is Christina Burkova, and I’m a senior.

What has been your fondest memory here at North? When I went to state for DECA with our group. It’s so fun getting to be in a hotel with all of your friends and celebrating all of the hard work done together.

You used to figure skate competitively, what was the best part about it? I was spending time doing what I really enjoyed, and it was fun getting experience from other people who have the same passion that you have. I had the same coach for about 8 years, so we had a great bond.

What’s a fun fact that people might not know about you? I really enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling. I learned to do that while traveling.

What are your plans post-graduation? I’ll be attending Lake Forest College as a business major, with a concentration in marketing.

What was your favorite part about being involved in DECA? It helped me discover my passion for business, and I was able to work with and meet a lot of really great people at the same time.

If you could come up with any Decadent Delight flavor, what would it be? Mint cookies and cream sounds really good. Kind of like a mint Oreo.

What has being a part of the National Honor Society been like? I really enjoyed volunteering and meeting lots of different families. I really enjoyed the career fair that I volunteered for. It’s nice being rewarded for your accomplishments, as NHS wants students to be the best that they can be, and be the leaders in our school community.

Who are your current favorite artists? Lana Del Rey is my current favorite artist, I also enjoy listening to SZA.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self? Stop stressing and stop worrying about things out of your control. Don’t take on more than you can handle. It will all work out in the end.

What are your favorite classes you’ve taken in high school? I loved marketing with Ms. Mielke and business strategies with Mr. Paul. They’re such great teachers and I learned a lot of valuable information.
