Matthew Abraham, Senior

What is your name and grade? My name is Matthew Abraham and I am a Senior.

What are your thoughts on being one of the team captains in Track? After almost 4 years of dedication to the sport it really is an honor to apply the knowledge I’ve learned from past captains and coaches, and leadership skills to my time as captain with the team. It truly is something I am very proud of.

What PRs are you hoping to achieve this year? I’m hoping to get a few PRs (Personal Record) this season. Firstly I would love to get my mile time in the low 4:40’s, my 800m time down to under 2:05, and hopefully get faster in the 400 as well. I don’t like to have a specific time in mind, the way I am as a runner I just like to take it meet by meet and see how fast I can go.

How long have you been doing band? Do you enjoy it? I’ve been playing music since I was in 4th grade and ever since then I have been a part of multiple music groups. At Niles North’s mainly symphonic winds and jazz band. It really is something I enjoy, so much so I’m going to college for it.

How would someone describe you? I would hope people describe me as outgoing, sociable, driven, and funny.

Who knows you the best? Why? I would say other than my family, my close group of friends. They know me best because I am lucky to have such a tight-knit group of friends (which I’ve known some since kindergarten) that I’m able to be myself with.

What is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby would either be running or playing video games. I am a big gamer and always have been, right now I am playing God of War: Ragnarok and it is awesome. I also like to collect things such as vinyl records or sports cards as well.

What’s your favorite video game? I would say my favorite video game of all time would be a three way tie between Skyrim, God of War (2018), and Elden Ring. I’ve put unreal amounts of hours into those games, just because they are that good. (178 hours on Elden Ring)

What academic goals are you trying to achieve this year? Academically this year I would love to finish all A’s and maybe a B or two. I’ve worked very hard throughout my high school career academically and would love to end my time at Niles North on a high note.
