Six years after the release of Frozen in 2013, Frozen 2 has been breaking records by becoming the highest grossing debut for an animated film at $358.8 million worldwide in its opening weekend, according to The Guardian.

As of December 8, Frozen 2 has grossed $337.6 million in the United States and Canada and $582.1 million in other regions, grossing a total of $919.7 million worldwide. It is currently at number eight in the highest grossing films released in 2019 and is expected to climb up even further in the upcoming weeks according to The New York Times.

“I really liked the first movie of Frozen because it was really iconic so I was worried that this movie wouldn’t live up to the hype of the original Frozen” Niles North senior Alyssa Lule said. “But after watching it, I really think that it was a well matched sequel to the original.”
