At 6:30 p.m. the varsity girls soccer team faces off in a crosstown match-up against the Evanston Wildkits. With captains Alyssa Brand and Demetra Govis leading the team, they have started out impressively with a 2-0 record beating Taft and Payton.
In their home opener against Taft, Brand scored three goals in just the first half. The defense saw a lot more action the second game. Payton really came out wanting to win and was aggressive with trying to get the ball to the net. Luckily our defense was able to hold them off. In addition to clearing the ball from their side of the field, they also created opportunities for the fowards and midfielders to score.
Nina Younan, junior and goalie for the team said, “We’ve been preparing and working really hard for this game and staying focused. We’re excited for this opportunity to play against a team like Evanston.”
Evanston is coming into this game with an astounding record of 4-1-0, and are one of the better teams in either conference. This will be a great challenge for the Vikings
Come cheer on our defending conference champs!
