Congratulations to our many art students who submitted their work to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Collectively our students won 15 gold keys, 28 silver keys, and 29 honorable mentions.
Earning a gold key is the highest level of achievement at the regional level. Only about 7-10% of the submissions earn a gold key. After receiving this award all art pieces then go on to compete at a national level.
Here are some of the exquisite gold key winners:
Anna Poloz, for Drawing, “Robot Portrait”
Alethea Busch, for Photography, “Advertizement”
Julia Thummel, Digital Art, “Beach Walk”
Kristel Becares, for Drawing, “Two Hands”
Inga Mazur, for Mixed Media, “Silence”
Anna Hershinow, for Painting, “Green Couch”
Angela Onesti, for Photography, “Performance”
Many of our winners are also AP art students who are getting ready to send in their AP portfolios. Earning such high recognition in this competition is sure to give them the confidence they need to receive commendable scores on their portfolios. Good luck!
