Both girl’s varsity and junior varsity tennis placed 4th place at their conference. Doubles conference was at Maine West while the singles matches were at Maine East. One the second day, both doubles and singles matches were held at Maine East.
Their conference competition included Glenbrook North, Deerfield, Highland Park, Maine East and Maine West High Schools. Last year, the team placed 5th after Maine East took 4th place.
“It is hard to place any higher place since the top three schools, Highland Park, Deerfield and GBN, are in our conference,” senior co-captain Irene Cho said. “The important thing is that all the girls played their best and enjoyed their matches.”
The majority of the girls played Maine East first, followed by Highland Park. Their final matches varied depending on their scores in the previous games.
“Playing against Maine West was amazing. There were some shots that I had never known I was actually capable of getting,” second singles player Camille Paskind said. “It was an amazing experience.”
Yet, the team would not have reached such success without the support of their families and their coaches. “Our coaches are always there to help us and teach us special tactics of tennis,” Cho said.
Come support your girls tennis team on Friday, Oct. 18 at the Niles North courts for their sectionals.
