With the holidays comes the pleasure of receiving gifts, but more than that, the satisfaction from giving them. There are people in our community who need their hearts warmed this Christmas season, and you can help by volunteering your time at one of these great organizations this winter break.
The Niles North WHO club will be taking a trip to the Target located on 6150 W. Touhy Avenue this Saturday, Dec. 15, from 8 – 11 a.m. They will be purchasing presents for children in homeless shelters who wouldn’t otherwise be able to experience the Christmas joy. If you’re interested in participating, contact Mr. Sharma or Mr. Haberl for more information.
The Evanston Soup Kitchen is also looking for volunteers this winter. Located on Chicago Avenue, the volunteers meet every Tuesday to aid in providing the less fortunate with a home cooked meal for the holidays. The Niles Township Food Pantry is a cause to look into if you want to help make sure nobody goes hungry this holiday season.
Other places in the community that are always looking for volunteers, now more than ever, include the Skokie Public Library, the ELL Center and the Cambridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Local churches and grocery stores are always open for you to donate canned foods, coats, hats and gloves to the people who need it most. Don’t let Christmas miracles go unnoticed this holiday season.
