Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and Niles North is spreading love through fundraisers, activities, and service projects throughout the week of Feb. 9-13.
Students spread kindness beyond campus on Feb. 9, the Chinese Club created Valentine’s Day cards for senior citizens, and AVID held a Valentienes-themed meeting in the AVID Commons, featuring movies, card-making, and cookie decorating. D219’s Dance Marathons annual Rose Sale will run during periods 3-9 from Feb. 9 to Feb. 12, selling roses for $5 and lollipops for $2.
“It’s a perfect opportunity to support the Niles Township Food Pantry by purchasing a rose from Dance Marathon’s Rose Sale,” junior Liam Kempner said. “You can have a rose delivered to someone special while funds go to people in need this Valentine’s Day.”
Feb. 10 was packed with activities. Orchestra hosted a bake sale, giving students plenty of sweet options, while Uplifting Health club hosted a cookie-decorating event, and Calliope was stationed outside the cafeteria during lunch periods to deliver love letters written by students for free.
The Spanish Honors Society Bake Sale will take place on Feb. 12, offering another opportunity for students to enjoy treats while supporting school clubs. On Feb. 13, students can enjoy Vocal Valentines, a special event where students purchase musical messages for classmates. Niles North choirs will deliver them directly to classrooms, spreading love in song.
“I love Vocal Valentine’s because I really like seeing people’s expressions when they get it,” sophomore Clare McCausland said. “Each one’s really funny and unique. I also really like to sing and I think this is just like a great way to show off my own unique flair.”
With so many ways to give, create, and celebrate, Valentine’s Week at Niles North is more than just candy and cards- it’s a chance for students to connect, spread kindness, and show school spirit in fun and meaningful ways.
