Nick and Audry Spitz are on the run again, frantically searching for a friend held for ransom in a foreign country.  Murder Mystery 2 is a mystery-comedy, following Murder Mystery (2019). Jeremy Garelick directed this movie which first appeared on Netflix on March 31. The film has received high success, without a doubt. In the week of March 27 through April 2, the film was featured on Netflix’s top 10 list in 91 countries and boosted over 42 million views. Although fun and lighthearted, the question is, is it worth the stream?

Back in Murder Mystery (2019) a New York cop named Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler) and his wife Audrey Spitz (Jennifer Aniston) embark on a European vacation to rejuvenate the spark in their marriage. A dashing Charles Cavendish (Luke Evans) invites the Spitzes to his billionaire uncle Malcolm Quince’s yacht. After the death of the elderly billionaire Malcolm, the Spitzes are framed and put on the run. The couple manages to put the real killer behind bars and clear their name. At the start of Murder Mystery 2, Nick and Audrey Spitz have started careers as private investigators. Their dear friend Maharajah (Adeel Akhtar) has invited the Spitzes to his extravagant private island for his wedding. To everyone’s surprise, the Maharajah is taken. During the rest of the movie, we see the journey of the Maharajah’s closest companions attempting to reveal the true kidnapper and safely return the Maharajah. 

The attire throughout the movie was gorgeous. The costume designer Debra McGuire took into account that the wedding was going to be very vibrant. For attention to stay fixated on Sandler and Aniston, they needed to be dressed in a light color. McGuire commissioned a cream-colored lehenga with specialty beadwork created by iconic Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra. The execution of the whole wedding scene was breathtaking, I wish I was there myself. 

The writers derailed us all into thinking wrong. Up until the end of the movie, it seems clearly obvious who’s hands are red. Toward the end of the movie, a huge twist occurs when revealing who the real kidnapper is and what their intentions are. It really pulls the whodunnit together. 

It’s no secret Aniston and Sandler have been acting together for years. Even before working together on screen, they knew each other personally. The friendly chemistry between the pair really added a touch to the movie. The energetic personality of Aniston and the humorous characteristic of Sandler mix. The duo compliments each other so well. 

To answer our question from before, Murder Mystery 2 is worth the stream. It’s only 90 minutes, so if you don’t enjoy it, it doesn’t feel like a huge waste of time. It’s a great movie to play with your friends or family members. It’s comedic but keeps you entertained with a lot of adventure just like a mystery movie should.
