On January 27, HBO Max announced that all of their upcoming Warner Bros. movies will not only be in theaters but on HBO Max with no extra cost to subscribers. With films like Justice League: the Snyder Cut, Godzilla VS. Kong, Mortal Kombat, and many, many more considerably big films will be released directly to HBO Max throughout the year of 2021.

With the age of quarantine, theaters and media in general have been highly affected and had to change strategies.  We have seen this with other streaming platforms such as Netflix, who has been releasing a new film every week.

What is so interesting about HBO Max’s strategy though is that they are releasing have so many iconic characters and different stories for everyone. They not only have Godzilla and Kong, but they have the Looney Tunes with Space Jam: A New Legacy with Lebron James, book based sci fi film Dune, and even Tom and Jerry

These characters push them forward and they also have original stories to tell. For instance, Judas and the Black Messiah was released on HBO Max on February 12 and tells of the assassination of Black Panther leader, Fred Hampton. Or, The Little Things, is about the search for a serial killer in Los Angeles.

There are so many films that HBO Max will be releasing, and so here is a link to a list of all the release dates for all the upcoming films. It will definitely be something to keep an eye on as the streaming environment evolves as different platforms try to claim dominance.
