You are pacing in the hallway as the stress begins to culminate to a climax. Your biggest final is in an hour, and you still do not feel ready. To make matters worse, your grade is borderline. You reach a breaking point, but just as your screams are about to be unleashed, you see two adorable canines in the IRC and your stress dissipates.
On Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 19 and 20 respectively, the IRC will be hosting therapy dogs throughout the day as a way to provide stress relief for the strenuous time that is finals week. A sign-up sheet is currently posted in the IRC for appointments with the pups.
These pups are not only cute but will guarantee a stress-free few minutes in the chaotic time of finals. According to Psychology Today, “the overwhelming majority of published studies have reported that animals make excellent therapists.” Although sessions only last for five minutes, those five minutes of de-stressing may be essential.
“I think it is a great way to comfort the students because there is nothing better than cuddling with a puppy,” Clint Moon, senior, said.
As Moon mentioned, a dog is second to none when it comes to calming nerves. With the comfort of a mutt, your defining grade may receive a much needed boost.
Space is limited, so sign up in the IRC today to pet a pup!
