The Harry Potter franchise might have an another book in the line. Fans of Rowling expressed excitement upon hearing about the release of an eight installment of the historic Harry Potter franchise.
Last week started on a good note for all the Harry Potter fans out there—news about an eighth book on the wizard boy was received with much fanfare and pomp. It all started when Pottermore, J.K. Rowling’s digital platform, announced a new publishing program from Rowling. Soon, rumors about an “eighth” Harry Potter book started rolling.
Two days later, Rowling tweeted that there was going to be no new book to the series, but instead it was a new stage play! Here is a brief synopsis of the play.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son, Albus, must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As the past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
“At first I was confused that Harry Potter was getting another sequel because I thought The Deathly Hallows was the end of it,” Sara Zengoska, senior, said. “I am disappointed that this is not a book because I won’t know what will happen to Harry and his kids,”
Within hours of the announcement, the yet-to-be-published book was already on Amazon’s bestseller list—the fact that this is a script, not a novel, didn’t seem to slow the excitement of Rowling’s fan base at all. Fans were angry because they wanted to see the magic unfold once again.
What do you think of this announcement? Will J.K Rowlling make a possible eighth book?
