If you are a member of the Niles North community and are interested in giving blood to help a fantastic cause, definitely consider attending the annual blood drive at Niles North. The blood drive is coming up on Saturday, and sign up can be done either online or outside of the lunchroom this week. When you register either in person or on the website, you will be prompted to select a time for your appointment.
This year’s blood drive is a bit different than past years. “For the first time, we’re hosting it on a Saturday. In the past, it has been during the school day so we’re hoping for a larger turnout this time,” Caroline Benjamin, director of student activities, said. Benjamin continued to say that she hoped the weekend blood drive would become more of a community event instead of something students did as part of their Friday school day.
Every donor could have an immense impact on the lives of others. “It can save three lives, who wouldn’t want to do that!” Spencer Schwartz, the student coordinator of the blood drive, said when asked why someone would want to do the blood drive.
