Niles North’s very own Auroris Dance Company will be showcasing their annual recital, Delirium, in the Niles North auditorium. There will be a free community performance on Thursday, February 4 at 10 a.m. along with two weekend performances on Friday, February 5 and Saturday, February 6 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold by the Auroris dancers and at the door for only $10.
This year, the Auroris Dance Company consists of 34 diverse, talented members, each bringing their immense dedication and hard work to the stage. Since August, Auroris’ rehearsals consist of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday practices that last for three hours, including scheduled guest choreographer pieces on the weekends.
“Choreographing my own piece this year is so exciting because it’s great to see my own dance and ideas turn into something real. Audiences should definitely watch Delirium because having our peers come out and support us is what makes all our hard work pay off,” senior Jessica Badofsky said.
Delirium will have a wide variety of dances that will be showcased, each highlighting both the jazz and hip-hop companies. Many of the dances were created by student choreographers, including Marcus Ambubuyog, Jessica Badofsky, Juliana Tichota, Sharon Joseph, and many more. Aside from student choreographers, guest choreographers such as Terry Turner, Santo Scavuzzo III, and more.
Sophomore Sharon Joseph expresses her excitement for this year’s show. “Delirium is going to be amazing because I feel like this year many of our members grew as dancers, and all of the dances we’ve chosen have varying emotions and styles.”
The Auroris Dance Company will also recreate senior Alexis Benitez’s piece from last year in honor and dedication to last year’s Auroris manager and Niles North student, Regina Roman.
The Auroris Dance Company promises that Delirium will be a highly-anticipated, entertainment-filled showcase that audiences definitely won’t want to miss. Come support and cheer on the Auroris dancers this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. for only $10!
