As of January 21, 2016, Dr. Mark Friedman is appointed Interim Superintendent until the District 219 Board of Education hires a full-time Superintendent. Friedman will work a maximum of 100 days per year due to his past retirement. Friedman will contribute much help and leadership to the district during this transitional time.
Friedman is retired after holding the Superintendent position for over 17 years for Libertyville schools. Friedman consults with school districts all over the country to help improve education. In 2009, Friedman was named The Superintendent of the Year for Illinois State. His achievements also include being awarded Superintendent of Cook County twice.
Friedman is set to work from now until June 2016. As Interim Superintendent at D219, his salary is set at $1,400 per day. His job will be to continue the work of the former Superintendent and help The Board of Education find someone to hold the permanent district position.
